Stopped Breastfeeding ttc#2. When will I get my period?

I stopped breastfeeding my baby in order to get my periods back to start charting and get pregnant with baby #2. I know that you can breastfeed and still get pregnant but I wanted to be able to chart for this pregnancy since there is a very specific time frame we are hoping to get pregnant during. I have read online that it can take a few months for your period to resume after you stop breastfeeding and sometimes even when they do return....they can be irregular and maybe annovulatory for awhile. I am in no rush to get pregnant right now (more like 6 months from now) but I wanted to get a head start on the process. Does anyone have experience with this? When did you get your period? What were your cycles like after breastfeeding?

Hiya I had always had pretty regular cycles then got pregnant with dd, I breastfed then stopped n got period 2 months later had 2 periods which were very irregular, well very long cycles of 38 days n 33 days then got pregnant!

I was using opks but never got positive so figured that month I'd missed it but it turned out I ovulated extremely late (on day 48) or somethin n we had only dtd once that week!

I'd get opks and chart temp just so u get rough idea x

I stopped BF on 9th March and got my first period on 19th March!

Having said that I had gone down to one breast feed a day so that might have sped things up for me.

Will have to wait and see now if they become regular.....not that I was overly regular before anyway!

I'm still BFing but I got my period back a week after I started my 6 month old on solids. Still waiting to see how regular they'll be.

I got mine back right around 2 weeks after I stopped. I'm wondering if they are going to be irregular now, because I should have gotten my next one by now!

Thanks for the info and congrats on getting prego again! That is amazing that you conceived on cycle day 48! So I know that you said you had 2 long cycles after stopping breastfeeding before you got pregnant....but do you think that after a few more cycles they would have gotten shorter/regulated out? With my first baby I went off the pill and had 3 long cycles (35 days. 39 days. 35 days) and then on the 4th cycle I ovulated on cd 28 when I got pregnant with my son and we bd on ovulation day. For this next baby I am trying the shuttles method for girl...so I am trying to bd a couple days before ovulation. Obviously if we are going to try to do that I need to know my cycle really well and I my cycles/ovulation need to be predictable every month and not all over the place.
