first night in his cot

Noah is 5 weeks old and he is spending his first night in his room (had enough sleeping on the sofa as he does struggle with sleeping - plus the cot finally finish)

but he is making a lot of noise it could be wind or unsettled... i just need people to reassure me and tell me this is good to start a routine at this age! and he will be fine... please? or just tell me i am stupid and shouldn't be doing this yet!

Babies make loads of strange sounds (Finn is 7wks tomorrow) that for the first week or so had me running to his basket (he sleeps in our room, but I bring the basket into the living room during the day); some of the sounds sounded like the devil incarnate and I was convinced that he was having some sort of fit (he wasn't), but as I understand it, small babies breathe faster than us, so what appears to us as distorted or worrying, is normal.

As for putting him in his own room, we haven't yet and he will probably sleep with us until he is 6 months old -- but if you can hear him (and I have learned that I am now an extremely light sleeper, even with earplugs when my OH has him in the living room, I can tell when he is crying....yawn), then it should be fine....

best wishes

Our LO has always slept in her own room. The first nearly 2 months she slept in her swing with it not moving. A week before she turned 2 months old I tried her in her crib and she did great. She now naps and sleeps at night in her crib.

Good luck! I know every noise is scary but you will get used to it.
