Thanks for all of the replies, William wees a lot so bamboo boosters sound like a good idea! I shall definatly bare in mind about the UK sellers over the abroad ones too an thanks for the tips on the need for more than one liner etc etc.

Are they suitable for babies who sleep through 12 hours at night? Or will I still need disposables for night time?

Also, how many would I need realistically? I'm considering using them on the 4 days I am off work and sending him to my mums with disposables the other 3 days.

Will check out the natural parenting forums too!

they will be no good for night time, nighttime is a whole other ball game lol

your better investing in proper night nappies which are generallt a 2 part system of a nappy and then a wrap (the waterproof part) over the top. The most popular are weenotions night nappies x

I used to get most of mind from China and never had a problem

Altho... I found the BTP are now too small for Evie and she is only little at 26lb so we use sposies.

If recommend them tho to anyone who is thinking about cloth and wanted to try it out

buttonnose82 - thanks so much for your help and advice, already watching some on ebay now 10 bamboo ones for 12.00 I want to buy them now lol!! I've read that some councils give money back for using reusables so I'll be looking into that
So that many washes and then after that just one wash when cleaning them? xx

no worries

the actualy nappies & inserts you get with them, they will be good too go after just one was (use only 1/3 of the regular amount of washing detergent and NO softener!!!)

it is just the bamboo boosters (little lambs) that you will want too leave too soak for 8/10 hours, then wash 2/3 times (no drying between wash's) and then they will be good too go too

Always wash cloth nappies with only 1/3 of the normal amount of detergent & no softener otherwise you can get all kinds of problems (leaking & smelling)

regular washing when your using them - rrun the machine on a rinse first (no detergent), then run a regular wash cycle (1/3 detergent & no softener), then run a couple more just rinses after, when rinsing after watch the water, you want it too not have soap bubbles in when just rinsing, if no soap bubbles then they are good too dry, if your getting soap bubbles then keep rinsing until they are all gone

hope that makes sense lol

I haven't got the cheapies from China as I found ones from the UK that were a really good price as well, and delivery is much quicker so you don't have to wait for weeks.

I've got 24 pockets/AIOS and that allows me to do washes twice a week, although he is at a childminder's 2.5 days a week and she uses disposables when he is there (even those I put the cloth ones in his bag).

My LO goes up to 13 hours at night and we've never had a leakage using the UK cheapies. We use a BambinoMio boost with a bamboo insert at night and that has always done the job. We've got a couple of expensive nappies as well and we've found the quality and effectiveness of the cheapies to be just as good.

I'd advise getting LL fleece liners as well, don't bother using the disposable ones. Fleece ones are sooo much nicer xx

I bought a bunch of the pocket diapers from Japan off of ebay for like $2.00/ea. What I didn't realize is only one came with an insert so then I had to buy those as well. Some of the $2.00-$4.00 pocket diapers DO come with inserts, you just have to read the fine print. I feel that they work fine for me.

We only use cloth part time, so I think if you were to use cloth all the time they would not work as well, as they seem to leak after 2 hours...maybe this is normal for cloth? I'm not sure.

Also, they are way too big for a newborn! Even with the adjustable snaps, they didn't fit my LO very well until she was 11 or so pounds (she was only 5.5 pounds at birth so kind of a peanut...) I would say they work well as back up or part time CD's but I wouldn't depend on them as your main diaper.
