gripe water!!!

ok so my lo is 4 weeks tomorro and from day one we have struggled with trapped wind.after every feed we do get some awesome burps but after she is put bk down up come the legs and the grunting....v good at farting too i might add lol

weve had her on infacol for a few weeks but had to switch to dentinox as it didnt do much....every 1 has said how awesome girpe water is so i went and got some....however after reading the possible side affects i terrified to give it to her. has anyone come across any 1 whos lo had a reaction to it and is it ok to give it to her the day she turns 4 weeks or should i wait....i think i worry to much as she was tiny tiny when she was born (still is really ive seen new borns bigger than her in the street bless her

Sorry, don't have anything to add but I will be watching this thread. My LO can have some awesome burps and farts when having her bottle but it will be a tiny little bugger of a burp that will have her hunched up and screaming and can take an age to get it to move. I have been trying her on infacol but she doesn't like it and will promptly spit it straight back out so was thinking about gripe water but I know they said to wait until after 4 weeks. xx

Her Pediatrician basically said that gripe water is a placebo for parents but doesn't actually help the babies. He advised me to get her started on baby probiotics so she has been on biogaia for the last 3 days.

I dont find anything helps my little man to be honest. I'll try n bring his burp up straight away and if he doesnt bring it up then I'll leave him for 10 mins and try again but it doesnt always work.

Hi,

We used it quite often from around 6 weeks I think with no adverse effects. Didn't really make much difference I found, the best way to bring up his wind was to put him on his tummy over my knees and sway them side to side iykwim?

No side effects here either but nothing helped that much until she learnt to burp herself at about 3-4 months

I used gripe water with Alex but have found that comfort milk with dentinox is best for him

We tried infacol then gripe water, they both helped and didn't seem to have any side effects. Infacol seemed to work better for us, but every baby is different

We waited until 2.5 months to use it, but had no problems. It did make her less fussy the one time I tried it, so I think it worked
