What do you consider start of labor?

First contractions? Dilated a certain amount? Contractions so many minutes apart? My first contraction was at 130 am monday morning and I had the baby 130 pm Wednesday. So I count it as 36 hrs, but am not sure if that is right

I think when you can start timing the contractions. Mine started on a Monday morning and I had DS on a Thursday night. It was pretty steady contractions the whole time but didn't really become 'active' until early Thursday morning.

For me personally I think its at the time when the contractions start, but I believe the medical field don't start it until the 2nd stage where the contractions are a couple min apart and the dilation is over a certain amount (can't remember when ). My first contraction was at 5.30pm and I got to the hospital about 8pm 8cm dilated and they counted my labour from then.

I had contractions for 3 nights subsiding during the day before it got to where I felt we should go in. I was 3cm when we arrived. After 1hr I got epidural 6hrs later I was pushing 30min later lo was born. It's hard to say. To me, it was that 3rd night when we actually went in, but technically I was in labor for 3 days lol

I'm always a bit confused over this! My waters broke at 4.30am Thursday and had the odd contraction but nothing too bad until Friday night which is when I was timing them. Was fully dilated at 4pm on Saturday and LO wasn't born until 10.30pm so my 2nd stage was 6hours but not sure how long my 'actual' labour was either! Everyone asks and I have no idea if it was 6 hours or several days lol!! I end up telling the whole story!

My waters broke and then started contractions every five minutes right after that.

my labour was so quick! i woke up at 6am on new years day with tightness but i thought it was just baby's head, then i woke up at 9am and was still there, i told my mum, went to the toilet and noticed i had my show (hadn't had it before then) phoned matenity unit and said they were 20 mins apart. the woman on the phone told me to take 2 paracetomol and go in a bath but as i got in they got stronger, my mum timed them at 5 mins apart, went to mu at 2pm (they broke my waters a few hours later as they still hadn't went through contractions), had lo at 19.46 so i'd say for me it was contractions lol

My waters broke 7am on Saturday morning, I started getting very painful contractions I could time at 6pm Saturday evening and she was born at 5.30pm Sunday evening. So I would call my labour 24 hours, although the hospital have it down as 16 hours established labour.

I have no idea how long this labour was its recorded as 38 minutes but I was already fully dilated by the time I arrived at the hospital. I would guess at it being about 2-3 hours from the first tightenings. I was induced first time around and was in labour for 3 days but it is recorded as 7 hours on my paperwork as they have taken it from when I reached 4cm.
