I put on 35lb and lost all but 7 of it by 2 weeks PP. I didn't bleed very much and it lasted around 4 weeks.

I now weight 2lb less than I did pre-pregnancy. I haven't done much exercise (although I used to run a lot pre-preg and hope to get back into it once I've had some sleep ) and I've eaten whatever i want as I'm BF (mainly cake ).

My limbs are skinnier than before for some reason but my stomach needs a little toning work once I get active again. I'm fairly sure it'll be fine once I get going.

It took me about 3-4months to lose the vast majoity of my weight. Had a couple of lbs to go, which took till 6 months pp. Belly not as toned as it was before - bit wobbly! I didn't do any exercise but bf so it came off quite naturally (even though I have been eating biscuits and cake quite a bit!).

I do think activity increases bleeding. I only bled for a couple of weeks but noticed the more I did the more I bled. I think it is important to take it easy and let your body recover.

I looked virtually identical to my pre-pregnancy body (except for having enormous boobs!) within 2 hours of giving birth. I was very fit pre-pregnancy and had solid abdominal muscles which didn't separate (I had a very small bump) and I gained 24lb during my pregnancy.

Bleeding carried on for about 3 weeks. I tried to be active with my newborn and the bleeding was heavy but it got it over and done with I guess!

I gained 50 lbs during pregnancy even though I ate healthy and went to the gym everyday...I've not lost as much of it as I'd like. As you can see by my ticker I still have about 30lbs to go and I'm almost 6wk PP. I've already started lifting again and doing Insanity and Kickboxing classes so hopefully it won't take me to long.

However I feel that my body won't ever be the same. Doing kickboxing makes me realize my boobs are A LOT bouncier, my hips are a lot bigger, and I dunno if I can get my abs back or not! What we do for our babies

Former athlete here.

Unfortunately it took about 15 months (stretch marks for life). Maybe my standards are higher than others (I was 120lbs, 5'5 and very lean/fit before), but it was a real struggle. I looked 6 months for at least a month after. My abdominals were destroyed. I worked out hard, and properly, but really fought plateau's (moreso on body composition than weight).

My son was bigger, 9lb 3oz on my small frame and that caused diastasis of the abdominals. My bumps tend to be massive.

I gained too much in pregnancy (40lbs) so that contributed a lot and I did not breastfeed for long so that didn't help.

I kept up my gym visits until 37 weeks and like Jessica my bump went immediately and on leaving hospital after 3 days I was lighter then pre-pregnancy and my body essentially looked the same as ever - only bigger boobs and a stretched tummy button. I never had to buy maternity clothes as my bump was small so left hospital in my regular clothes (UK size 8) that were now a bit too big for me.

Bled for 5 weeks exactly. Definitely worse when I had done a lot - even if just housework.

Not managed to get back to the gym yet due to lack of childcare but walk 2 miles a day which feels like plenty at the moment.

Thanks guys for the responses. I've been doing household stuff and it's amazing me by the day at this point how different I look. I gained 30lbs.. all belly.. And since coming home I've lost 22lbs with 8 to go! That makes me VERY hopeful! Seems like things are getting better by the day! I have been bfing and eating healthy too though.. so I'm sure that combination is helping me get back to my baseline. I won't go crazy with my lifting at the gym and such though until much later, but at least I'm on the right track to getting a good base. =)
edit: ps. I also worked out up until he was born..

I gained more than just baby weight because I overdid the craving indulgences during pregnancy!

I am 6 months PP and I just reached my weight goal (5 lbs less than pre-pregnancy weight). I was always pretty fit before pregnancy, did a lot of running and weight lifting, but I quit cold turkey during pregnancy because of the awful morning sickness, and even when that subsided I just didn't go back to the gym

For the first 3 months PP I lost a lot of weight and quickly and was back into my regular clothes by then. Then I started going back to the gym. Now at 6 months PP and been running and strength training again, I've lost even more weight and feel much better about my looks -- I have a 6 pack! Woot!
