I haven't tried it but I would guess if you kept playing for a little extra while, LO will stay awake and if you stretch out the wake times by playing you could maybe get down to 3.
So this weekend I waited until I saw his sleepy cues and tried to keep him playing a bit longer (like 15 minutes) to see what would happen. I also started giving him his little stuffed dog that he likes to cuddle for naps. Between these two things, they seemed to work a treat! I guess maybe I was jumping the gun and putting him down too early because as a result we got 1.5 hr naps instead of his usual 45 min ones and wake times of 1.5-2.5 hrs instead of 1hr 15 min. We're not down to 3, but if this continues, it won't be long before we are as that 4th nap was only 20 min. long both days.

Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I was more concerned with him getting OT that I was putting him down too early.

Not really...I kept him distracted with toys or we went outside for some fresh air.

He goes to daycare during the week and I told her what I did over the weekend, so she's been doing the same. He's been sleeping longer there too

Great news! I called the baby sleep helpline here and they said that catnapping is the most common problem with bubs this age. She gave me some things to try and I have stayed in today to try them. Only problem is bub didn't get the memo and is having long sleeps! (knock on wood)
