Please help - waking in the night 8mos and I'm going mad : (

So my LO is still in our room at DHs insistence and my exhaustion to change this otherwise. LO isnt a bad sleeper in that she will go to sleep in her cot after a little whine (one of us is always in the room sitting in the bed next to the cot so she knows someone is there).

It's the middle of the night that is the problem. She often wakes up about 12-2am crying and it's never for a feed, nappy change or anything. She settles if I hold her and goes to sleep immediately in our bed and normally stays there for the rest of the night.

We do love having her in the bed but our sleep is being really badly affected now she is bigger and we're both exhausted.

I don't know what to do

We're planning to get her into her own room this weekend (just trying to get her down for a nap now so I can clean her room out) but I'm not sure what the best technique is for her.

I tried shush-pat last night, not putting her in the bed just holding her at the edge of the bed and when she was settled put her back in the cot but the minute we did that she just started crying. I did leave her in there to cry for a short amount of fine but staying at the end of the cot so she knew I was there but she just kept getting really distressed and crying so I would immediately pick her up.

I'm not against CC at all but considering how upset she was last night I'm not sure whether it'll work with her.

HELP!

ETA: I'm RTW in 3 weeks and can't cope with this sleep pattern when I go back

She's been like this since the 4 month sleep regression. We brought her into the bed then because we were going insane from lack of sleep (it lasted a month with us) so she's gotten used to it.

Is she getting cold? My lo wakes about 12/1am sometimes for a groan and shuffle about, doesn't "need" anything, then I realised she was getting chilly when the temperature dropped at that time so I started popping an extra blanket on when I went to bed and seems to have worked. Before this she would have to settle in my arms, think because I was warm and snuggly!

My LO is nearly 14 months and still wakes 2-3 times a night lol.. But it's mostly due to teeth. I still hold/cuddle her until she's sleepy then i put her into her cot and she normally settled within a few seconds. I sometimes have to do shh pat for a few seconds if she's fussing.

When she wakes during the night she'll just lie back down and i'll place my hand on her back or do shh pat (normally just pat) and she'll settle again within a few seconds. But if she's woke up really upset and crying sometimes i'll have to left her out and cuddle her and then pop her back in and sometimes have to do this a few times if she won't settle but this is rare. Maybe you could try that until she settles? x

That's kind of what I did last night, settled her, shush-pat etc and when she was ok I would put her back in and the second she hits that mattress she cries her head off. I place my hand on her chest, stroke her face, tell her mummy is here but nope, nothing settles her unless I pick her up.

No she refuses one. I said to DH last night it would be so easier if she had a dummy. Before she had teeth she would only go to sleep by sucking on my little finger.

She goes to sleep in her cot fine. She might have a little winge but we put her down now, put her little musical nightlight thing on and she goes to sleep. She might get up and crawl/stand and we put her back down each time and normally by the 4th lying her down she's asleep.

I try doing the same when she wakes up in the middle of the night but she gets so upset.

Mmmm, maybe she has too much sleep during day? Not enough naps? Hungry? Does she cries when waking up? What if you just sit with her in your arms untill she is totally asleep and then put her to cot?
