7 week old- transition from swing to crib

I have a question and I'd love your thoughts and experience.

Tonight we're going to try to have my 7 week old sleep in his crib. So far he sleeps only in the swing or the Rock N Play. I'm afraid he will cry and he's too young IMO to have him Cry It Out.

I have a little wedge that is under the crib sheet to give him a slight incline like the RNP and the swing and it also has small breathable bumpers (not near his face) to keep him from rolling on his side and those will also make it feel more like the cozy swing.

What do we do if he wake up crying? Do we force the crib and keep putting him back in it or do we give in and put him in the swing? Do we let him cry at all? We will try rocking him to sleep before putting him in it for the start of the night.

My daughter only slept in her swing during the day for her first 10 weeks of life pretty much. I almost made myself sick with anxiety over it because I was so worried it would break or she would outgrow it and I'd be stuck with a non sleeping bub. What worked for us was gradually trying to put her into her basinette for sleeps - sometimes I would 'fight' with her for an hour before giving up. I never let her cry for more than a few seconds because she was so tiny - I would go in and do the 'shush pat' technique with her.

Sometimes it worked and most of the time it didn't. But I persevered. I rocked the basinette and kept trying every few days. And one day it just worked. And she has been sleeping in her crib (she outgrew the basinette) for all sleeps (unless we are out and about) for about a month now. I didn't even get to use my emergency stockpile of batteries for the swing as she just went cold turkey!

Why do you not want him in the swing? I can't tell you what you should do with your bub but I just wanted to let you know what worked for us (in the end!). She now self settles most of the time unless she is really overtired and we no longer have to rock her or the crib. She goes down awake with a pacifier and her mobile and usually falls asleep within 10 mins.

I just don't want him ti get addicted to the swing... And I know he has to transition eventually. I think the crib is better for him in the long run because he slouches in the swing and I'd rather have him sleep flat on his back where I don't have to worry about him slouching and impairing his breathing or anything. Also... We are going away for a weekend in a few weeks and I can much more easily bring a pack and play than a swing !!

Can you move him to his crib from the swing once he is drowsy / in a light sleep?

My LO started off refusing to sleep in her crib and would only sleep in our bed or in her swing or on one of us.

For the past week she has been sleeping midnight - 6.30am in her crib without fuss. We generally let her fall asleep where she likes and then put her in her swaddle pod and into her crib. She usually stirs for around 10 / 15 minutes but we put her Fisher Price Seahorse on and she goes to sleep all night.

We ended up having a pretty goodnight! We waited until he was totally asleep in our arms and then laid him down. He fussed a but but we soothed him by placing our hands on his chest and shhhhhhing.... He fell back asleep and slept really well!!
