Just got it put back in again. It never messed my cycles up (I'm a 28day regular), no mood swings, and at the moment a light bleed I've had for 1 1/2 weeks but it's fading out so fingers crossed! As with anything (pill, injection etc) we all handle hormones differently and what works for 1 won't work for another. It's trial and error.

Pro to the injection is it only lasts 3months so if it doesn't agree with you then you don't have long to wait where you'd need to get the implant out and it's a little more awkward. But I love the implant and it works really well for me

I had the injection 5 months ago and it didn't agree with me, but it seems to still be affecting me with continuous bleeding. I hear it can take MONTHS to get out of your system.

Yeah trying to find a contraception that works is hard. I've been really lucky the implant has worked wonders for me and doesn't give me any of the side affects that some people get. My sister was on the injection and she was an absolute horror! She just screamed at everyone, cried at the drop of a hat and was generally an absolute cow lol <--- though I think it was an excuse

It is I'm thinking about the pill since I really am sick of the continuous bleeding but I don't like the idea of more hormones/side effects etc. Have a follow up to discuss things with my gynae on the 24th April.

I would have thought it would be an excuse too but I've literally been AWFUL since I had the depo, getting irritable really easily etc and crying that I felt I couldn't control. I wish I could say it was PMS but I haven't had a real period since LO was born!

I have had the implant twice. And it started off ok, although i didn't have a period for a good few months, then after that i had heavy periods for nearly 2 weeks every month and i asked them at the clinic about removal and they refused, saying it is too costly, and i should put up with it for a bit longer. After about a year, they weren't as heavy, but they were irregular. I never knew when i was going to be on my period. It also gave me really bad mood swings. I left it a few months before having another one put in, and i had that in for a year before having it removed as we wanted to start trying for a baby. My periods were very irregular again. I only had it again because i didnt want the injection, i am a poor pill taker and because i thought the coil was too invasive. But now i've had my son i guess opening my legs to have the coil fitted wont be too bad lol.

I think if i choose a contraceptive now, it'd have to be a non-hormonal one.

Well you kind of want the coil to be "stuck." I have heard of it getting dislodged, in rare cases, which is what you don't want. But there are downsides to any type of birth control. I'd rather have a low risk of it getting dislodged then definitely have hormones pumped into my body long term.
