My LO is only 11 days old and when I had the HV yesterday she said he got Thrush in his mouth and gave me an oral suspension medicine for him.

We started the meds yesterday and of the 4 doses needed, I managed to give him 3 as it needed to be spaced out, well LO was so ill. He wouldnt take his full 3oz every 3 hours, I know its no big deal and babys change there mind all the time, but then one of his feeds, straight after the meds, he fetched the lot back. He was grouchy & restless in the night & again this morning after his meds, he threw back all his milk and grouchy again.

I called HV who said the meds can sometimes cause an upset tummy and to keep an eye on it. Later morning with no meds he was fine, but this afternoon, again after his meds, he was the same. So I told OH he wasnt having any more of it till id spoke to my MW tomoz as she is visiting. If needs be she can give me a different perscription for him.

Told my mother and she said I should still give it him regardless.
Now im sorry, but my son only has mild Thrush, the meds make him so ill & the midwife is coming tomorrow. I cant see the point in him having iot if its making him poorly

I don't really know much about Thrush- but I would think if LO is doing fine without the meds, what is one day wait going to hurt? Especially if the meds are upsetting his tummy?

I would wait too hun. Then ask if there is aother med you can try that may not upset your LO so much?
