I was 41 + 3 and I remember those last 10 days being absolute hell, feeling so big and fed up and really emotional. I had 2 sweeps and the first one was absolute agony. I think the second one worked because my waters broke 48 hours later and LO arrived on the day I was booked in for the induction. I had quite a painful labour and ended up with an emergency c-section at 8cm dilated due to fetal distress - but this was nothing to do with the placenta more to do with LO's strange position she'd got herself into. Even after all that it was so worth it when she arrived - nothing else really mattered that much.

Hang on in there, every day feels like a week but before you know it you'll be holding LO and those last few days/weeks will be a distant memory!! If you like cooking at all and still feel able, I'd recommend cooking a few things and freezing them for the first few days after LO comes - I made a big lasagna and bit pot of home-made soup and froze them into meal-sized portions - I was so grateful of these in those first few days.

I started a thread at the time trying to see the benefits of being overdue in a slightly twisted way of trying to cheer myself up - I'll see if I can find it and post this link - maybe it will help? Big hugs

Thanks, yes i am still able to cook although not the worlds best or anything lol. But i do love making my own soups and i can make a good spaghetti bolognese (no jars) so could make some up to freeze.

I was induced at 42 weeks exactly and LO arrived at 42+1 - perfectly fine! I can sympathise though, I didn't enjoy those last 2 weeks at all and got upset quite a few times that nothing was happening. Like a lot of others have said, in hindsight I would have made better use of those days to properly relax. Good luck hun, I know how it feels, some of our babies are just too comfy where they are!!

Your story is the same as mine - I was due for induction Thursday and at 41 weeks but had a sweep which worked within 8 hours!! So avoided the induction and labour began in the morning at 41+3 after 2nd sweep xx

Good luck - I know how frustrating it is but LO will be here before you know it xx

I had my daughter at 41+2. I went into labour naturally, had 2 sweeps and was booked in for induction at 41+5. Active labour was fairly quick but the worst part was the fact that I went into the latent phase of labour the day before my due date! That was 9 days of hell before she actually decided she really wanted to arrive and I was incredibly grumpy! The placenta was really healthy and normal, not calcified or deteriorating at all!

I heard that 2nd sweeps are more successful - I came home at 11.30am and cleaned the floor on hands and knees - by 5.00pm I was having irregular contractions and by next morning full labour!

Stay as active as you can and swivel your hips in an 8 motion - seemed to work for me - good luck hun xx
