Yeah I had a water birth and a graze, was relieved not to have torn, terrified of ever needing stitches. Hoping the next one goes as well

I had a water birth with a second degree tear and stitches. They never bothered me at all afterwards though, I couldn't even tell I'd had a tear. No idea whether that's normal or related to the water birth, but it did surprise me at the time (in fact I asked the nurse about it because I was worried that I should be in pain ).
I'm a bit hazy on the details but from what I remember they said I needed one because he was crowning (or almost crowning) for so long and I couldn't push him out, I was pushing for an hour and a half in total and they could see his head for about half of that time I think.
They just did it in the pool the same as they normally do it I think, I just had to lift out of the water as much as i could. I couldn't have any anaesthetic and I don't think they could have got me out of the pool to do it. It was definitely the most painful part of the whole birth!

Bed and stitches for 2nd degree tear. Gave birth on hands and knees, I feel the tear may have been worse on my back but who knows!

Dry land and laying down - had a 3rd degree tear.

It wouldnt have mattered where I was or what position I was in, LO got stuck sideways because of the contractions and I couldnt 'push' her into position so they had to use the forceps or c-section.

I was montiored throughout due to lo's high heart rate so had to give birth on the bed (ended up having an epi as well). 2nd degree tear and grazes. No one prepares you for just how sore yort toush will feel afterwards (even though I suppose it is obvious I only concentrated and tried to deal with how I would feel during labour. I felt so down about it But would do it all again tomorrow!!

I had to be on bed cos I was on a monitor. I dunno if it contributed but LO was back to back do had to turn to face the other way as he came out. I never felt any pain from the tear though and even in weeks after it was never painfully never hurt to wee or anything. It did feel uncomfortable and passing stools can still be uncomfortable now. Dunno if that's because they were all internal stitches or because they sent me home with so many drugs lol.

I had a waterbirth and 2nd degree tear, but Oscar was a big baby and came out with his arm over his head. Plus, he was crowning for a long time and i think in my gas and air wooziness i may have pushed too hard to just get him out rather than let him do it gradually so i probably didnt help matters. Next time im going to tell them that i need reminded not to push hard at crowning
