after reading all your answers, now I am kind of curious to ask, hope it's not too personal, but did you ladies ever do anything to prepare your pelvic floors for labor and birth? Do you think it helped?

Looking back on what I did with my first pregnancy, there was a lot I could have and should have done, perhaps my traumatic birth would have turned out differently.

I did nothing at all, he was pushed out in 20 mins. I just listened to the midwife carefully and stopped pushing when she said etc.

I was in the hospital bath for around 5 hours and only got out to have an epi and deliver I delivered within 30 mins of getting out bath and i had a 2nd degree tear and graze.

I think its more to do with the way you push I pushed quite quickly. and big pushes, however my friend pushed slowly and small pushes and didn't tear or graze. X

I had to be induced so never got the water birth I desperately wanted...
I had horrible tearing (2nd degree) but in more unusal places. My tears were internal, labial and urethral - amazingly my perineum was intact!!!!

my 2nd birth was so easy. he literally popped out, my mw just managed to get her gloves on as his head came out after 2 pushes, body after the 3rd.

my 1st i pushed for 27 mins and did no prep other than raspberry leaf tea.

Maybe i just have a stretchy fandango i def recommend active labour and upright 2nd stage

I had birthing pool - grazes , stung like a bitch for a week and a half and they also got infected! Worse bit about giving birth lo was born with his hand by his face lol naughty boy!
Mine was born on the bed (was stuck on monitor for entire labour - grrr, blooming baby heartrate issues!) - but she had her hand by her face when born too!

I birthed on a bed kind of sat upright with my feet behind my hips. I tried other positions but I wasn't able to stay in them properly and push at the same time so I just had the bed as upright as possible to give me something to brace against without having to lie flat! Ended up with a 2nd degree tear and stitches, both superficial and to the muscle. The stitches were the worst part of the whole thing for me!
