Stitches / grazes / water birth / birth on bed, poll!

Would like to know if there is any correlation between the two

I had birthing pool - grazes , stung like a bitch for a week and a half and they also got infected! Worse bit about giving birth lo was born with his hand by his face lol naughty boy!

I think that you have less chance of tearing if you have a water birth, that's what I was told anyway.
I had a water birth but needed an episiotomy so had to have stitches.

I have birth on dry land but had been in my shower and birth pool all day at home, I had no grazes or stitches.

That's interesting about the water birth episiotomy! I didn't even know you could have an episiotomy when having a water birth. How did they know you needed one? And how was it performed?

I had a water birth with a second degree tear and stitches. They never bothered me at all afterwards though, I couldn't even tell I'd had a tear. No idea whether that's normal or related to the water birth, but it did surprise me at the time (in fact I asked the nurse about it because I was worried that I should be in pain ).

Someone was in the pool when I got to the hospital so didn't get my water birth. But I think the only reason I tore so bad was because Harrison had his head turned so was coming out wierd... He also got stuck lol. Awkward little beast

I gave birth on a bed, due to induction and wasnt allowed a water birth.. boo!

I needed stitches, and had a large graze... lucky me! The graze was definitely the source of the most pain (esp when peeing!) My LO had a very large head (98th centile at birth) so I was bound to suffer from something no matter what!)

(it was a 2nd degree tear)
