I heard this too but we were so tired and naive we BELIEVED IT, my poor baby was up for 12-14 hours straight as a newborn I can laugh now but yikes it was hell. He sleeps more in the day as a toddler than as a newborn
yep! we tried too, as first time parents didnt really know what to do. LO was up all night

You just jump up & run to her everytime she cries - you 're spoiling her (from DH since birth)
She's this way cause you've hoarded her (lo whines or cries when others pick her up) mind u dh only took 2 night feeds & has changed her diaper TWICE since she was born - didn't want to deal with her cause she cried a lot. Now she cries when he tries to hold her & it's all of a sudden upsetting him. UM where were you for 5 months buddy?

Not advice as such but MIL was getting excited about LO can have solids in a few weeks. I told her he wasn't having anything till as close to six months as poss and I was going blw. She told me I'd be letting my baby starve for 2months just so I can I try the latest 'fad craze' and he weighs too much to wait that long. I told her even if I tw I'll still be waiting till 6months that really set her off lol.

That I'll spoil her by picking her up if she cries, that I'll starve her by not spoonfeeding her at 3 months, in fact I could continue for days with lists of daft things I've been told!!!!!!!

While prego a woman (distant relative) told me that to calm my baby when she cried I should eat an onion! LOL. I hate onions anyway... but really? She said it got in your breastmilk and would help to calm a crying baby... cause that is what her doctor told her when she was pregnant 50yrs ago! hehe. Maybe it is true- who knows, but I never tried it. haha.

There was LOADS more- but I would just politely say "thanks" and do whatever I was going to do anyway hehe.
