I am formula feeding after a very long and depressing battle to breastfeed I had to call it a day...
anyway my 3 week old feeds about every 3 hours but sometimes she wakes after say 2 hours, but only wants an ounce instead of the usual 3-4 ounces, is this normal, i was worried i was feeding her when she not hungry but she def wants it n after the ounce she sleeps.
Just like a breastfed baby, they will take various amounts depending on their need at the moment. Remember at 21 days-ish there is yet another growth spurt and that, combined with her very young age, her feeding will be erratic. Expect to waste a lot of formula at this time, unfortunately. As time goes on, it will regulate a little more.
Very common for Newborns... in time it will even out. But my LO still does this from time to time. She has her "average" feeds... about 4oz every 2-3hrs, but sometimes she just doesn't want it all or wants more...
I also had a long battle trying to BF... no fun! Sorry you had to go through that I remember while I was pumping it was such a bummer when she "wasted" my BM! That was precious stuff! LOL. Still not fun when formula goes to waste... but least we can buy more
Totally normal, especially as you have been bf'ing. Baby is used to just drinking what she wants and whenever she wants it. She will slowly get herself into some sort of routine over time. She's still so young, just go with the flow
