To mummies that dream feed...

Hey all,

I'm thinking of introducing a dream feed now LO is going to bed earlier than us at last! Just got a few questions...

1. How much later than lo's bedtime do you dream feed (my LO goes to bed 8.30/9, planning on dream feeding 10.30)

2. Do u dream feed same time every night?

3. If u breastfeed and give a bottle, is that at the bedtime feed or dream feed?

4. Did it work for you??

Thanks ladies!!

X

we dreamfeed - last feed for the day at 6pm with bed at 7pm then dreamfeed 10/10.30pm. works every time for us. both twins will sleep wil betwen 7/8am. not sure how to drop it though.

we tried a few weeks ago to see what would happen and they woke at 1m so we started right up again! can't help on BF as we are FF since 4 weeks.

I am probably not the best to offer advice, as I was doing a feed to boost LOs weight rather than to get them to sleep more (which is generally the reason for dreamfeeding!)

From around 16 weeks I done a dreamfeed - about 4 hours after he went to sleep, when I knew he would actually take a decent feed.

Doing this actually really helped his sleep!!! Since 16wks to now, 23 weeks, he has only woken up less than about 5 nights, and I wake him in the morning too!

It wasnt at the same time every night - as each night he would go to bed at a different time, could be sleeping one night at 9pm, then next night at 11pm.

I breastfeed, but dont give any bottles.

Thanks. I've been avoiding the dreamfeed but lo's sleep is getting worse and I'm really struggling! On a good night she wakes at 2 and 5.30ish, and from 8-12 weeks she was sleeping 11.30 til 7 or 8. Oh how I miss sleep!!

We ff

The dreamfeed worked like a dream for us. We done it at 10pm every night and LO went to bed at 7. She went through the night at 9 weeks, we stopped dream feeding at 20 weeks. It worked SO well for us

Worked fab for us, started it about 8 weeks I'd give him a bottle his usual 3 hours after the last but im quite routine and this was always around the same time so he'd go down at 8 and we'd feed before we went to bed, 2 weeks later he started sleeping through and I only just dropped it at 8 months (it was cut down when we started weaning) now hes older he's fine without. Think it's one of those things either they'll do it or they won't, for us it's just been the norm but you don't know unless you try

wow, yeah- I had to look up to see what a dream feed was =) Obviously new mom here. =)
So that sounds like a great idea! I figure it's still too early to start that here.. as we're going through a growth spurt.. but how soon did you all start dream feeds?
