Advice needed (council property UK, London)

Sorry, I've posted it to another forum (Home Life& Relations) but nobody seems to be there so I am hoping maybe someone here can help? thank you.

Hi Ladies,
I am after some advice.
I live in London (SE) and been biding for council properties since August last year. Yesterday I was adviced that I should inform the council that I am expecting our 2nd baby. So after work I went to the Council asked for an Amendment form. Now I am seeing that I can select areas where I'd prefer moving to. I remember when I completed my form last year I ticked the option that I do NOT consider any other areas within the borough, only the one we now live. But since then things have changed and have been bidding for properties that are not in my preferred area - by the initial application form. Hope it makes sense
So now my question is that, is it possible that the Council haven't even considered my biddings that are outside of my preferred area??? Does it mean that I've been bidding and if I had initially selected other areas I might have already been allocated? I am so upset now just thinking that I might have wasted several months and opportunities to be allocated to a council flat (however I know it doesn't happen from one day to another, still some friends have been allocated quite quickly...). It takes literally days to get them on the phone, so I am hoping someone either works in a Council and knows how things are, or have had similar experience.
Thanks if you can help!!!

All I can say to you is that every council works in a different way, on if someone is able to give you an answer on how it works in one city it doesn't mean it will work the same in your city.

Generally in London if it's a bid system it doesn't matter if you put that you would prefer not to live in certain areas, if you bid on a property outside your preferred areas your bid is still counted as normal. It's only when they allocate you a property direct which quite frankly rarely happens these days, where this applies and they won't offer you a property in an area other than your preferred ones xx
