I got my confirmation letter today saying they will pay me a lump sum of £80ish in the next few days which is the back pay (DD is now 7 weeks) and then monthly after that. I got the birth certificate on the day and the confirmation letter came back in less than a week

I must have been lucky! We just went along to our local council office and they weren't busy so registered him there and then and gave us his certificate to take away!

the only back day per month unless you request to be paid weekly so £80 would be right for 7 weeks. You would prob get the next £80 the week after or so.

In the UK, a baby has to be registered by six weeks old. I know cause it was on my Life in the UK test.

Yes, they backdate child benefit

Why don't you get the birth certificate on the day? I did when I registered Harrison :/

But yeah, they do back date it, we got £80 put in our bank which was really helpful since we had almost run out of nappies, wipes and milk lol. End of the month... Gotta love it

XxX
