What would you do?

We want to start ttc number 2 this summer when LO is 1. I'm not going back to my old job as I've been commuting from kent to london, they can't offer me part time and my wages would only just cover travel and childcare. I was planning to be a SAHM for the time being but now LO is 9 months I'm starting to feel like I want to do some work as well I would love to just work a couple of days a week locally as well as having time with LO but I don't know whether to start looking for a job or not as I suffer from Anxiety and don't know if it would be too stressful doing a job that will be for the sake of having a job (ie not earning money as it would just pay for childcare) and being pregnant and coping with a toddler and fitting in housework, etc.

It's all I can think about at the moment

Hmmm, tricky one. I think, for me personally, unless the job was actually to earn extra money rather than all wages going into childcare I wouldn't bother. Having said that though I may well feel differently when LO is a year old and all my mum friends are going back to work! I might want a bit more adult interaction possibly but right now the idea of a job for the sake of a job sounds like extra stress that I really could do without!

Why not give it a go? If you find it's not for you then give it up. You won't know until you try really!

Yeah exactly on both counts - don't need the stress but all my new mum friends are going back to work and I need to use my brain!

Not easy - I won't be going back to work either due to a monster commute (and job hatred ) but I do worry that I'll start to go stir crazy when my friends are either not around or just around a lot less. I wish there was an easy answer to it! Could you have a look into some temping positions maybe - so you do something that you know has a set finish time to it and at the end you can decide whether or not you want to look for something else to carry on with working or not?

Hi, this is such a difficult decision to make! ive just returned to work and my LO is 9months. She is in daycare for 2-3 days a week which is soooo expensive. U have to do whatever is best for you and whatever suits you best! its so hard. i needed to weigh up all our options and im currently considering reducing my hours but will have to see if that will be off benefit! i do shift work so may have to pay out the same in childcare anyway! Sorry ive no real advice but i know how difficult the decisions are to make! I find it soo hard leaving LO but i like the job and company of the other staff! all the best TTC no 2! we will hopefully be considering this too come the summer!xox

Actually that's a good idea thanks ! Could get a short term temp assignment to see how it goes.
