baby temperature

hi. please can someone give me advice on checking my babys temperature and knowing if hes too hot or too cold. hes 14 weeks old first baby boy, and im still worried at night about his temperature. hes got a double blanket, single sheet and there tucked under matress in cot, his arms are out and he wears a sleep suit and under vest. his face feels cool along with ears and nose. head feels warm. heating goes off around 10.30pm from 24 degrees and comes on again at 6am. he wakes at 2amish for a feed and his room isnt as warm as it was at 10.30pm. thanks very much
