Poll: When did you stop your LOs dream feed?

When did you stop your babies dream/ night feed? My LO is 8 months old and has 3 meals a day but only about 2oz during the day of formula (she is offered 4 "5oz" bottles a day, yup it all gets wasted)! She will have water and baby juice in between. I have tried stopping the water and juice but it seems she just hates milk now and will just cry until she gets water! My HV said to stop her dream feed (which she has every night at 10.30pm ish, she goes to bed at 7pm) because she is "getting to old for it". When I told the HV that she will not take milk during the day, she just said if I cut out the dream feed she will start to?? :-/

So, when did you all stop the "dream feed"? Should I do it? She also sleeps through the night and I'm wandering if stopping this feed will start her waking up again?

ps forgot to say her dream feed is 7 oz and she drains the bottle when she is sleeping! Have tried giving her a bottle of milk during her nap time in the afternoon but she just wakes up and refuses it.

I still feed my LO all night and I have never worried about how much or when to feed her, to be honest. I feed her and if she takes it I continue to give it to her. My pediatrician said that for the first 12 months the baby should get most of his/her nutrition from formula/breastmilk, so I honestly would not give up the night feed, especially since she seems to eat so much so imo it would seem like she needs it.

Even though my doctor actually agrees with me about the feeding, it wouldn't matter if she didn't because I only do what feels comfortable and I know that I am the one who knows my baby best. I don't know what "baby juice" is, but I was also told not to give LO any fruit juice until after a year old because it just fills her up without offering much in the way of nutrition. It just goes to show you how different doctors in different places advise different things! Who knows what is right, lol? But I would say that you know your baby and if it feels right to you then it probably is

Actually, now that I think of it, the night feeds are the best feed because during the day she is so distracted by everything she hardly eats, lol!

At 7.5 months old Fran dropped down to 2 bottles a day - first thing when she woke and last thing before bed, drinking approx 12oz milk a day. My hv said this was fine because she got plenty of dairy in her diet.

We tried dream feeding and it never worked for us. She didn't start sttn until she was walking properly lol.

How much does your LO have a day including the df?

I'd be interested to know what other people have done with this. My LO has a dream feed, I don't intend on cutting it out until he's established on solids and I would imagine he'll cut it down himself gradually but I'm not sure when to stop.
One of my friends' babies is 7 months old and she tried cutting out the dream feed a couple of weeks ago, but he clearly wasn't ready for it cos he started waking up in the middle of the night hungry. So she reintroduced it.

If at 8 months my LO was only having around 7 oz milk a day I would actually cut down on the solids, cut out the water/juice and LO would just have to take the milk!!!

If LO is not interested in taking any milk during the day they must be filling themselves up on whatever else is on offer.

Last night was my first attempt at no dream feed and he didn't wake!! I must say though I'm aware they need a pint of milk a day still so if they weren't drinking it through the day I'd still be inclined to give that bottle if they're taking it well iykwim?
Mines not great at draining bottles, he wakes up and has 3oz, the odd 2oz through the day but will drink a full 6oz at 4pm then again at 7pm.
I did hope today he's drink a little more milk but no!! He's not the greatest eater either. He's eaten a full round of bread today for the first time ever yay!!

thanks everyone.

She has 3 meals a day:

Breakfast : porridge or a fruit pot

Lunch: a jar of 7 month old organix stuff

Dinner: a jar of 7 month old organix stuff and a yoghurt. Today, she had 6oz of milk INSTEAD of her breakfast, I couldn't get her to eat any breakfast as well but I guess 6oz of formula is better than a meal?

We stopped the dream feed at 6 months old. She started to have breakfast and dinner and was also having around 25oz a day of milk so one night we didn't wake her and she just slept through. We haven't gone back since. We always give her dinner at 5pm (pureed fruit and veg) followed by a 4oz bottle, then give her a bath and at 6.30 give her another 7oz bottle (Althoigh she only has 6oz of it) and then put her to bed.
