Please tell me they sleep better in their own rooms....

Hey all,

I hear horror stories on here about the sleeping patterns of lo's and I feel a bit bad for moaning but my lo's sleep is killing me!! She used to sleep 7 hrs at a go, and has done 9 or 10 but since 12 weeks it's just getting worse. She now goes to bed at 9ish after a feed at 6.30, a solids feed and 10oz expressed milk.

If she settles she then wakes at 1.30am for a feed then stays awake for an hour and won't settle til I feed her again. She then wakes at 5 for a feed, ends up in our bed and sleeps til 7.30am or 8. Around those wakings she often cries for a dummy or I have to put her mobile on to settle her and I'm just not getting enough sleep!!

I'm planning on moving her to her own room at 6 months but can't face it if I'm up and along the corridor this many times a night

I've heard from some people that lo's sleep better in their own rooms. Please tell me that's true!!

Xxx

It is definitely true for my LO

He sleeps through from say 7:30pm - 8am (on average, as he's currently waking up earlier due to his teeth)

BUT he will not sleep anywhere apart from his own cot in his own room, he has to be really shattered to even fall asleep in his buggy.

Well going on only one night - Jack was fussing after his feed, spitting his dummy out and bashing his arms on the side of the moses so I put him in his cot at 3.30am and not a peep until 6.30am - so going on last night, he defo slept better.

Problem for me though is that he's only 11 weeks and his cot is too big for our room so I'll just be worried all night now

Your little one will be fine at 5 months - give it a go and see what happens. Good luckxx

My little man sleeps so much better in his own room. After the first couple of nights which were a little disturbed (probably due to the unfamiliar room) he settled right down and sleeps really well. I think the cot is much more comfortable than his basket, which had a flimsy mattress, and he has lots of space to stretch out - he sleeps like a starfish lol. He was bashing his arms against the sides of his Moses basket and I think we were also disturbing him in the night. Best thing we ever did!

Aww thanks. I feel like there might be a little hope now... She's already in her big cot in our room so wouldn't be a change of bed but I'm praying I'm disturbing her with my snoring or something oh is in the spare room...

My LO slept much better in his own room. We moved him at 5 months but now wish we had moved him a few weeks earlier. We all slept much better once he moved (and we have a digital video monitor to keep an eye on him). I hope it works out well for you x
