Anyone who had pre-e

Hi ladies,

Looking for some advice from anyone who had pre-e and had the lights in eyes and disturbed vision side of it.

I had pre-e with last baby and was induced at 39+2 which was fine as I was far enough on. I'm currently 26 weeks and over the last week have had 2 or 3 bad headaches and also lights in my eyes. I'll see something in the corner of my eye then try to look and see if it's there again and it's gone. Does that sound familiar to anyone? The dots/lights are either bright green or black.

Thanks for any advice. Am worried about being overanxious throughout this pregnancy due to what happened last time!

xx

I had pre-e and the visual disturbances...you should probably contact your midwife just for them to check your bp etc!

Also with the visual disturbances the only way I can explain it is like she you look at a light and its makes yours eyes go funny with like black shadows (bigger than dots) Hope that makes sense xx

Thanks for your reply, my visual disturbances are slightly different and sometimes feel like I'm imagining it! Do you know if sickness is a symptom of pre-e? On Friday I was randomly sick three times and also had a headache. My morning sickness stopped weeks ago. xx

No, if I need to phone anyone it's the maternity unit where I'd have the baby. I'll need to wait and see when my OH gets in tonight as have no one to take my little girl if they ask me to go in for bp check or whatever. It'll be a long day! xx

I had silver-ish sparkles in my vision.. I'd bring your child with you and get it checked out. My Pre e developed into full blown eclampsia in a matter of hours. We were in a critical condition with it...

You have to get checked out ASAP. The day my little man was delivered by emergency c section at 27+3 the giveaway that I had onset eclampsia was the visual disturbance and lights. Please, please get checked immediately x

ETA: I was told if I hadn't gone to the hospital that morning I'd have gone into a coma. Alex was born 3 hours after I arrived at the hospital x

I didn't have the visual thing, just high bp and protein in urine but the doc did say it was highly unlikely i got it again with following pregnancies so hopefully its not that but do get it checked out...

I had pre-e but they left me to it until i was in labour!! i would get it checked out having said that sometimes flashing lights, sparks of any colour followed by or before a bad headache can be an aurora migraine, i have suffered with them all my life, hence why i was 'left to it' as it was assumed to be migraine. keep hydrated and avoid foods that can trigger headaches such as cheese, chocolate and caffiene. sometimes hormone changes in the body can cause migraines too it depends how prone to headaches u r. i would definitely ask a midwife to check your bp and urine to be on the safe side tho. all the best xx
