what is your lo like waking from naps?

Lo is a terrible sleeper, I've written many a thread on her (lack of) sleep - but in short she wakes pretty much hourly at night.

She's also increasingly fighting naps, only napping for 30 mins at a time. When she wakes up she rubs her eyes loads, yawns has dark circles and seems really tired. I've tried resettling her but she'll wake after 2-3 mins again.

What is your lo like waking from naps? Is it normal for them to wake tired or does that mean she's still exhausted?

Thank you for reading x

Louis now has one nap (sleeping as I type), from around 1 -2.30/3 pm. If he only has an hour he normally wakes crying and is rubbing his eyes/irritable - I take this to mean he's still tired. He never goes back to sleep though when he wakes like this.

When he's had a good nap though he will wake up happy and sit in his cot until I go up, no crying. He also sleeps better at night if he's had a good nap. I must stress though that before 9/10 months he NEVER napped in his cot so hope this offers you some hope, I know you're exhausted atm and I was too. In my experience as they get older they do sleep better, hth xx

I have the opposite problem, most of the time I have to wake my LO up from her naps! She gets pissed off if I wake her up before 1.5 hours so I have started leaving her for 2 hours. She has two 1.5-2 hour naps a day still, lazy creature! I sometimes wonder how long she would sleep if I left her!

I think a few months ago I started a thread about how my LO would always wake up SCREAMING from her naps. She was still tired after her short naps.

Now that she finally gets it, she usually wakes up happy. Sucks on her sleep sack, kicks her feet, rolls around, tries to turn on her rain forest toy, etc.

Oh, and when my LO was the same age as yours, I just knew she would never take long naps. She was an awful napper. As I type this, she has been asleep for about 70 minutes. Hang in there, it will get better.

My lo is like me when she wakes from naps-grumpy!

DD1 fought sleep so bad, it was awful. I am happy to say she improved when she got mobile, as she would get tired out.
xx

I lie with my baby and when he wakes up too soon he cries if i try to pick him up, pulls himself back to lie down and wants to comfort suck back to sleep if he's refreshed he smiles at me. Sometimes he rubs his eyes as he's waking not because he's tired but to wake up.

Since about 7 months he has understood that the bed means sleep x
