OMG I hate that. I forgot and brought my cell in with me once while putting my girl to sleep and I got a text- ruined naptime!

He just woke up screaming after 10mins of being in bed so I've been lying of the floor beside his cot for the last 10mins singing to him and he's just drifted off again. I think tonight is going to be one of those nights

Yep, looks like another unsettled night for us too... I have been cuddling her each time she cried but making an effort to put her back down before she was asleep and then patting/singing. She was peaceful for an hour and a half but has just managed to hit her head on the cot so i'm now cuddling her again - it's so hard to stick to! But I've been inspired by this thread (and feeling so insanely tired) to really start working on this sleep thing and get into more of a routine for day time naps, tweak our bedtime routine a bit and be really strong about not feeding/cuddling to sleep... In the meantime I am fantisising about having a night away in a hotel just me so I can get a decent night's sleep lol. Or that she will just surprise us one of these nights and magically sleep through... It's nice to dream!

I'm with you on the fantasising bit. I know my mum would absolutely love to have LO overnight but I'm just so not ready for it yet, he only settles for me and the thought of him getting himself into a state and me not being there to soothe him is awful! When he starts sleeping a bit better (if he ever does lol) then I might let him stay at his nana's, she would be thrilled to have him anyway lol

Yes, my mum would love to have our little girl too. my husband and I are hoping to do an overnight trip away in august - we are thinking surely she'll be sleeping better by then! Although we had thought that for the 6 months milestone but 6 months has been and gone with no real improvement so who knows what it will be like by a year!

I now you said you aren't ready.. but you might be surprised. We struggled with losing the swaddle. I sent her to my moms for a night so DH and I could have a date night and she slept through, unswaddled, no paci.

I've heard of this happening to several people, about it helping when somebody else does it. Cadence is TERRIFIED of strangers, my mom being 5 hours away she is kind of a stranger, she always cried the first 10 minutes at her house and out of probably 20 nights there (she goes once a month for a weekend) she only had one meltdown that did last over an hour... but there were teeth involved. She is fine when I am not around, if I am around nobody else can touch her except my husband (even then not so much!)

I would go for it, do your trust your mom to keep her safe? It really might help, desperate times call for desperate measures =)
