Activities for 12 week old

Can anyone tell me some activities to keep a 12 week old baby entertained all day? My DD will be 12 weeks tomorrow and all she has really done today is sleep, eat, get her nappy changed then play until she fell back to sleep and I feel that she hasnt really done much

My lo is 13 weeks, and we do a lot of sensory style play - I have bought lots of materials from the local market, I have some big black and white prints, mirrors, lights and nearly everyday we have sensory play. We have nursery rhyme time - he is starting to laugh at me now, which I love hehe! We also tend to go out for a walk everyday, and we go either swimming or to a baby group nearly everyday (I never get housework done... hehehe)...

What do you tend to do?! xx

Sounds interesting and fun packed

We have a nursery rhyme dvd called baby genius nursery rhymes which we sit and sing along with, she giggles at the funny sounds, we go to the library and get out lots of big colourful books which I read to her and she loves the pictures and how I put on silly voices, we have done some foot painting and made some salt dough to make hand and foot impressions, we go out walking everyday and she enjoys her gym for a wee while

Though today she has spent most of it asleep and not really bothering with anything at all

What types of things could I buy for sensory play? I did buy a squishy hedgehog for her to play with and she has a couple of Lamaze toys which has different textures and sounds.

Aaah... I cant wait to start messy play - I wasnt sure if he was too young or not. Did your lo enjoy it?

With sensory play - I havent spent a lot of money (I dont have any lol), the black and white prints I got of the internet, and have just put them in plastic wallets so they dont get mucky. I had an old disco ball lights thing that I put on for him. I managed to get hold of some wooden rattles from a charity shop (obviously clean them down). LO loves the netted bits and materials (I put them over his face so he can feel them properly - obviously just wipe them over), I also bought some shami's, and some musical type rattles - rainmaker toys etc...The Lamaze toys are fab arent they - I love them loads! :-) more than lo I think at the moment! hehe...

Im the same, I sit for ages crinkling the ears cause its so soothing...TO ME my LO must think Im nuts lol

When we done messy play my LO didnt really understand what was going on, I dipped the sponge into paint then onto her feet (I put her in her car seat) and pressed the card onto her foot but she cried the whole time, I only done it a few times so I could make bookmarks for her grandparents

That is a great idea about the netting etc I must be on the lookout now

I was thinking about getting some play sand and letting her sit in it or place her feet in it but I wasnt sure as she is still pretty young

lol... its funny isnt it :-)

I have done some inkings of babas feet and hands recently...(I was sneaky I did it when he was sleeping - he is a deep sleeper).

Honestly the netting and materials are great - lo loves it, oh and voiley materials. Like I say we went to a local market and just picked up a couple of off cuts.

My little dude is starting to teeth so constantly has his hands in his mouth, so I wouldnt be able to do that with the sand I dont think. But I look forward to doing that when he is older. I went with a friend to a wacky warehouse thing a few weeks ago, and put his in a ball pit - he was fascinated with the colours - and the sinking feeling. He is quite a hardy little boy so doesnt really cry much just giggles. So that is the next investment I think - a little ball pit with a few balls. They are really cheap as well...

:-)

Great idea I must keep an eye out for things, actually we have a market on this Wednesday, I must make a point of going, maybe pop into the sewing shop and get some silk material and lace etc

What age is your LO?

Just get the off cuts, they are cheap then :-) We went to a sensory room when he was only a couple of weeks old and nicked some ideas from there. It has since closed so we have to make do with a sensory room at home - or a make shift one anyhow.

LO is 13 weeks old. He is very lively, and alert (and very vocal - although doesnt cry too much - lucky me), he has only started giggling this last week (not managed to catch it on video yet though). Isnt it amazing how quickly they change?!

I just realised you mentioned your LOs age earlier sorry for asking again

I cant believe how quickly the time flies, one minute we were in the third trimester forum now we are here but its amazing how they change so much, I love the giggles but she only does it when Im not looking

How is your LO getting on with his teething? My DD has recently started putting her hands in her mouth and dribbles everywhere...is this a sign?

She also stares at me and OH when we eat
