White spots on tongue.

So LO has some white spots on her tongue. She had an appointment yesterday and I mentioned it to her doctor who said she wouldn't worry about a few spots but to call if it spreads to her lips or the insides of her cheeks.

So far it hasn't but it does look like there's a few more white spots on her tongue. Is there anything I can do/eat to help clear it up? Would my eating yogurt help any if it were thrush?

it could just be ulcers or epsteins pearls. which are not harmful.
thrush is however, thick white layer on LO's tongue or inside the cheeks.

My LO had thrush and it's really easy to distinguish.

I've never heard of epsteins pearls so I just googled and it says it's on their gums/roof of their mouth but these are only on her tongue. As far as ulcers go, what causes them and do they go away on their own? Is it something that's common with bf? I can't remember if her doctor told me that or not. I just hate to think something I'm eating or doing/not doing is causing this.

Ulcers are what I call them, I get them on my tongue all the time, it's just fluid in a little pimple looking like thing, they just go away on their own after a day or two. LO had them also. I don't breastfeed, but truthfully, they're not harmful and they should go away on their own.

You're not doing anything wrong, it's normal x

How do you tell thrush vs just milk tongue? My little boys tongue is white a lot but I always thought it was milk, and my breast don't have thrush.

get a warm clean wash cloth and rub it on his tongue, if most of it comes off it's not thrush, but you can really tell..it's SUPER thick and inside their cheeks and gross looking.

I'm pretty sure thrush affects the tongue, cheeks, roof of the mouth and sometimes the back of the throat whereas milk tongue is just the tongue and if you wipe it, it will come off some but thrush does not.

My LO just has white dots that look like (what we call) sugar pimples (from eating too much sugar) but hers are white instead of red like ours get.

Thanks. Is it something that could affect her feeding? Causing pain or making sucking a little more difficult for her?

doubt it. the only time mine hurt is when I rub it against my teeth, seriously can't help it. LOL. but I can still eat fine, but I'm not a infant, but I assume she'll be able to eat just fine
