Leo for a boy...daddy is a cop

My husband is a sheriff's deputy so anyone in the "family" knows the nickname for law enforcement is LEO...I want to incorporate Leo into a name because of its meaning to us, but not sure of its popularity, or a middle name. Im not a fan of Leonard or Leonardo.

Leo is a name in is own, from the Latin for lion.

https://www.behindthename.com/name/leo

It doesn't have to be a nickname for anything else, if you don't want it to be. Check out the namesakes tab, lots of Leos out there!

My eldest son is Leo. As misspriss says, it is Latin for lion and it's a legitimate name on its own.

I've never heard of it being a nickname for law enforcement before - must be an American thing?!

Hmm, maybe a name which has Leo or Lio (which could be pronounced the same)?
Emilio
Elliot (probably a bit of a stretch!)
Julio
Lionel

We are considering Leo for a boy (though may now go with Wyatt) it is a name in it's own right
