Any Canadians here? Your thoughts wanted! (But anyone welcome to comment)

Hi!
We are considering the name Ayla for our daughter. I have been researching it and noticed that it is unusually popular in Canada--number 83 in the top list of names. Seeing as it isn't even close to that kind of popularity in the rest of the English speaking world, I was wondering if you in Canada would give me your opinion. Do you like the name? Is there a famous person in Canada with the name Ayla, or some other reason that it might be so popular? What kind of associations do you have with the name?

We are living in Europe, but from the Northern U.S. originally. Since I can imagine that the name could migrate and become popular over the border, and we might some day move back, I am curious to know how it is perceived in Canada at the moment. Thanks for any thoughts!

Hi. I know of a couple baby Ayla girls. Not sure why it's so popular. No famous people I know of with the name. I can't think of any associations to it...
It's pretty. Maybe that's why people like it

To be honest ive never heard the name and i live in Ottawa canada.

Wow, 2 of 3 so far haven't heard of it and it is number 83 in popularity! I wonder if it is just hugely popular in one region or something...

Never heard of it before, and I'm from B.C., Canada. Not a huge fan, though, sorry. If you like it though, go for it.
