Audiobooks - Do You Enjoy Them? Which Ones?

As the title says!
I never thought I would be much of a fan, but I have found a couple of readers that are fantastic, and I will often fall asleep to their readings. They do a great job of becoming the narrative voice, and as I know the stories really well, I just relax into the reading and doze off!
But they can keep me alert and relaxed while on long drives, too! They aren't just soporific!

I really enjoy Joanna Parker's reading of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, Jane Entwhistle's reading of the Flavia deLuce novels, and the wonderful Stephen Fry's reading of the Harry Potter novels.

Do you like audiobooks? What are your faves?

I don't really enjoy audio books I wish I did - I've bought a few in the hopes of being able to listen to them when I'm falling asleep - but I just can't get past the voices of the narrators

That totally makes or breaks them! Narrators are vital!!
I listened to one of the Hunger Games trilogy on audiobook and was hugely disappointed with their choice of narrator.
The Sookie books and the Flavia books both have cast the perfect voice (particularly since the novels are written in first person) for those characters - at least, the voice matched the voice in my head as I was reading them!

I think my main problem aswell is that I read really quickly (about 800wpm) so I find it so boring to listen to a person talk. I just can't concentrate on it, my mind wonders and the next thing I know I've missed a whole chapter

Hmmm. I'm a pretty fast reader, although I have no idea how many wpm, but I also have a theatre background and enjoy listening to the spoken word. I prefer to listen to a book after I have read it. It does make me a little impatient when I am hungry for the plot!

Where would one find out one's reading speed? Off to google!

I love audio books! I always have an audio book and a regular book on the go. The audio book I listen to while I cross stitch as I find watching tv is to distracting. I just finished The Hunger Games on audio book, I didn't mind the narrator to much though.

I really enjoy them! I don't have much time for reading so I listen to a bit every night when I get into bed. It definitely helps me sleep better. Right now i'm working on The Hunger Games trilogy (book 2)

I enjoy them especially when I am working. Currently on chapter 6 of Don Miguel Ruiz -The Mastery of Love. I would recommend this book to everyone here. It has really showed me my foibles when it comes to relationship and I am diff going to improve upon them.
