DIY nursing tops!

Popping over a little prematurely, but figured I may aswell get prepared!

I've noticed a lot of nursing tops are:
1. not the most fashionable
2. expensive, especially the more fashionable ones!

I was thinking of the amount of events I'll be at when both me and LO are still learning the ropes with BFing (probably come a lot more naturally to her! )
but a lot are occasions I'd like to be kinda dressed up for, but buying a different outfit suitable for BFing for each event is going to end up EXTREMELY pricey.
I also don't like the nursing vests I've seen, as they seem a bit too loosey and casual (which I'll probably appreciate when my mummy tummy arrives i guess!)
Anyways, I'll get to the point!
I've thought why not just buy vest tops/skinny strapped dresses i like, and tweak them?! Be a hell of a lot cheaper. Plus, I can then get a nice vest top, and dress it up with a nice skirt and some heels!

Just wondering if any of you ladies know where I can buy these clasps? The ones that are on nursing bras, etc. I've googled around and cant seem to find them on their own! I'm popping into town tomorrow so will be going to my local sewing shop to see if they might have some, but if I can get them cheap/bulk anywhere I'd love to know!
TIA!

When it was warm in the summer and I was huge, I didn't want to buy maternity vests for the sake of a month or so. I found that Primark did long-ish, fitted vest tops for 2.50 in loads of colours and they were ideal as they went right over my bump
Now that I'm BFing, they're still ideal because they have adjustable length straps, are really stretchy and pull down really easy! I'm STILL living in them with other tops over the top when I go out, I just wish I could get more because they've lasted really well and are the best thing I've got for the job!!

it'll probably end up my poor mum doing them! She's a whiz with a kneedle though so probably for the best!

I live in primark vests. I gave up on feeding tops and just bought loads of vests to go under other things.

I found dressy tops were the best for DIY nursing tops, I just get the low cut styles.
You can wear a scarf around your neck to keep the top part warm.

I feel like I'm totally changing, now when I go shopping (although still pregnant, so just window shopping really!) I find myself pointing out tops to my sisters/mum that have buttons all the way down, or just slightly, or v-necks and stuff planning ahead!
