well done hun, i had similar experience birth wise to you and rhys was tongue tied.
i pumped for 6 weeks while i was healing from the c section, it gave me pychologically cope better from wanting to bf to ff as i had got it into my head that formula was bad for them.
you've doen so well to get this far, as its really hard but if your devoted and give it 100% its possible
This is a great thread! Wish I would've seen it earlier! My son won't latch, so I pump exclusively. Just over 10 weeks now! My goal is a full year if I can! I have quite a lot of milk now...just hope it's enough to keep up with him!
Thank you so much for this thread. I have been exclusively pumping for 2 weeks now as Imi just will not latch since her spell in SCBU and hope to carry on for at least a few months. Always good to hear it is possib;e
What a great thread! I don't produce enough milk (even with domperidon), so I do about 50% pumped and 50% formula. I'm just starting to get a pretty good stock up in the fridge, so maybe I can start cutting out some formula!
It IS a pain in the ass with cleaning bottles, but it's totally worth it! I want what's BEST for my little guy, and I was going to try to keep it up for 6 months, but if I can for a year, then I'll be pretty happy!
I had to start pumping cuz my breast got so engroged Im glad to see Im not the only one until recently I just now started to put him on the boob but it is only when he needs it for comfort other than that his bulk feedings are from a bottle of breast milk. And your right you do need a double pump I start out my first two weeks with a hand pump and let me tell you it was hard every 2-3 hours my hand really hurt but all I had to do is look at him and it was worth it I have my double pump now and its so much easier.
And just a tip for any mom that's planning on exclusively pumping for a long period of time...spend the money on a good pump! I bought the Medela Freestyle..over a long period of time works out cheaper than renting and it's HANDSFREE!! You can walk around with it, feed your baby, do the dishes, eat a meal! It's so handy.
this is a great thread. i have had it in my mind that im goin to express from the start of my pregnancy. im so pleased iv read this as i didnt quite grasp how often i would have to pump and so on.... so thanks again for this its made things alot clearer. x
