Those still bfing at 6 months and beyond

I'm just wondering about which feeds your LO kept up once solids started. I've just started Aisling on solids last week and for the last few feeds it tends to be:

5pm - good bf
5.30pm - solids
6.30pm - small top up bf in her room before she goes to sleep

I had thought that she'd keep up the morning one and the very last one once she starts to drop feeds but the last one of the day at the moment is very short and I'm worried she'll end up dropping it. If I'm back at work, it might be that I'm not around for the 5pm one so that later one would be really important to me.

How did it work for you ladies?

I give Edward his supper around 5:30 as well. He has his last bf anywhere between 7:30 and 9pm (on demand) and it's a pretty good drink. I would love to get that last feed earlier and get him to bed earlier but at this point he seems to have other ideas.

I am following the baby whisperer's routines, so from when DD started solids she has still been on 4 feeds per day - 7am, 11am, 3pm and 7pm. She now takes a bottle of formula for the two middle feeds and takes 4.5oz each time. I breastfeed the morning and night feeds.

Aisling also has a feed at 2.30/3pm so I guess maybe in time she'll drop the 5pm one and increase the 6.30pm one...

Ellis is 8 months and at the moment her day is as follows
6a.m bf
8a.m porridge/fruit
9.30a.m bf
11a.m bf
12p.m lunch
3.30p.m bf
5p.m dinner/dessert
7p.m bf
2a.m bf
I think she's taking the piss after reading the other replies.....
Lu I think you could manipulate Aisling into taking the later feed if thats what you wanted-would she take dinner earlier at 5 p.m -this also means her tummy is empty for the solid feed too so she'll take more and then give her a bf at bedtime. I find if i bf ellis too close to a meal she doesn't take as much so i try to leave at least an hour.

Hi mari, thank you for that. I think maybe after she's 6 months old I'll see about giving her solids at 5pm instead of a bf, that might work. I just don't want to lose that last feed yet!

I'm beginning to wonder how easy it is to lose any feeds-i think Ellis is a real mummys boobies girl-honestly, sometimes i wonder if she's actually getting anything when she's there or if she just likes the closeness and comfort. I guess the fact she allegedly 'needs' 7 bf's at 8 months when she's having 3 big meals a day answers that question for me. We'll probably still be at it when she starts primary school...

That's nice though. DD is annoying when she feeds from me now. She bites and fidgets and is distracted a lot. I do wish she would just lay there all cuddly like she used to.

Oh, and update on the milk intake. DD is now taking 6oz at her two middle of the day bottle feeds instead of 4.5oz.
