ITV This Morning - Breastfeeding 5 year old

Did anyone just watch this?

The lady seemed very nice, but I still think once they're old enough to ask for it, they're probably ready not to have it. She said her son had stopped having it in public a while back because he was embarassed.

I think breastfeeding is fantastic, I wish I could have BF, but this is just a little strange if you ask me. Just my opinion though.

I agree...I was of the opinion that when they could chew pizza, they wouldn't be getting near my boobs

I think to this extreme bf is more about the mum wanting it, not the child .....

only my opinion though

I just watched this and just find it odd, I was busy with LO at the time but im sure I heard her say about charging others to feed thier babies and if she is still feeding her 5 year old just to keep the flow going to make money then that seems even worse.
But each to thier own I suppose
Im no expert on it, hell I couldnt even get my own milk going but surely the body must get to a point where it needs a rest and still producing milk constantly for 5 years must not do it any good.

i didnt see i but if the child is embaressed by it then to me it seems that its the mother that is struggling to give it up not the child and is probably more about her being scared to stop

Think its mental. Milk is a food for babies when they are unable to handle proper food - at the age of 5 its just a depserate women who doesnt want to face facts that her little one doesnt need her so much.

I think its quite the opposite actually. Extended breastfeeding (and any breastfeeding at all actually) greatly reduces the risk of breastcancer. Although I do think that after 5 years your boobs would be a long way off from where they started Mine are after only 15 months!!!
