Is it possible to try and start a bit of a ( dare i say it )....routine ??

So at the minute our DS pretty much feeds when he wants.

Its generally every 2-3 hours but sometimes can be constant.

I am keen to start thinking of trying to establish a routine.....but my question is....

Can I start trying to do this at 5 weeks??

Any advice ??

Well some people will probably say it's never too early to start, but I think when you're breastfeeding on demand it's hard.

The only routine we have for Florrie (and have had since she was about 6 weeks) is to bath her just before bedtime give her a quick massage and feed her in a darkened quiet room and put her in her sleeping bag. These are her 'cues' for it being night time.

Day time we have no routine at all although most days if we're out and about she sleeps for a few hours in the morning, wakes at lunch for a feed and a play then goes off again till 4ish. Then she just feeds and naps till bedtime.

What sort of routine are you hoping for?

I had a feeding routine with Grace from this age. We got up for the day at 6 am and she had a feed, then she would feed every 3 hours throughout the day. Bath at 7pm feed and then sleep for 5 hours, wake for a feed every 3 hours after that. Is the the kind of routine you are after? xx
