Feeling really disheartened

Basically what the title says. I started relactating juwst over 2 weeks ago, and I'm now getting about 3oz a day, which is a massive improvement from when I started (barely a single drop per side). However Lottie was diagnosed with a lactose intolerance at about 15 weeks following a lot of feeding difficulties and prescribed a lactose free formula. Teh dietician said that if she'd been bf then it was liekly that she wouldn't have reacted so badly to the lactose hence the attempt to go back to bf.

The nutramigen seemed to make a difference, she started gaining weight much better (jumping from 50th to 75th percentile) is a LOT less sick and is less fussy with her bottles. since she's been having ebm she's started being sick again, fussing at her bottles and has reduced her overall intake.

Should I just put it down to coincidence or is it that my milk is actually doing this to her. I really don't think I can continue pumping every 2 hours plus taking all sorts of herbs and drugs if I'm also going to need to cut lactose out of my diet. Ireally don't think I can do it. But I so wanted to bf her, or for her to at least have ebm.

Sorry for the pity fest I'm jsut feeling really down about the whole thing and wondering if it's even worth it. Could do with a bit of a pep talk I guess.

I'm so sorry to hear about what you are going through. I'm afraid I've no experience of either relactation or lactose intolerance so I don't really have any useful advice. It must be quite devastating to think that the increased sickness could be due to the EBM after all the dedication that has gone into relactating. Hopefully somebody with a bit more experience will have some useful suggestions for you. I think you are doing an amazing job and it sounds like you are a fantastic mum to your LO no matter what the eventual outcome of your breastfeeding journey. But I do hope that you can find some solution.

hello
glad to hear things are good with the relactating!.. i have every admiration for you.

Have you cut out dairy products from your diet aswel? it may be worth a try any YES it is sooo worth it. and WHEN your finally Bfing, youl wonder why you even doubted yourself! (trust me iv been there, not relactaing, but similar position when my milk didnt come in!)
Amari is also sick after feeds, its generally cause shes had a little too much.
Could it be something else in the diet..
im sorry im clutching at straws here for you. Please keep going though, its soooo worth it!..
