Periods so soon after birth even though im BFing?

My daughter will be 6 weeks on monday and was born by c section.I stopped bleeding a week ago and it was never heavy bleeding any way.So yesturday i had a painful ache in one of my knees and thought nothing of it.This morning i had proper period pain in my back and tummy and now ive just started bleeding bright red blood (sorry TMI) quite a bit of blood.Is it normal for woman to go back to having periods so soon after the birth even though im BFing?When i BF my other daughter all my periods stopped until she was 8 months old i just presumed this is what would happen this time

I bled for 5 weeks and then got my periods back at 6 weeks (another c section mummy here) and have been regular every month since.
Apprently it means your extra fertile so be careful.

not sure about the pain in the knee tho? Get it all checked out in case as i went and got it checked out and got a dr telling me to use as much contraceptive as possible lol.

What a releife was starting to get worried incase i had an infection.I have my 6 week check monday afternoon so will mention it then thank you

I'm glad for your post because I'm the same (had a c-section too) I too stopped bleeding a week ago but am now bleeding again and with slight period pain, my breasts even feel more tender today but maybe that's just coincidence?! I'll be mentioning it to my Dr at my 6week check up, it won't hurt to hear what he says but I'm not overly worried, just surprised that I'm on my period already.

Hi -I had a normal delivery but i got my periods back at 10 weeks with avegance! I was so fed up, I was hoping it would take a few months as I am BF too. x

Got mine back last week (4.5 weeks post dwelivery) after a vaginal bityh, great fun!

It's quite common for breastfeeding women to have what they call the "six week bleed" at about the 6 week mark. Your period may come back afterwards but it's also possible that it won't come back again for months.

I'm like that too. Will be expecting AF anytime as I am 6 weeks. Thought I felt myself ovulating a couple days ago. I am exclusively BFing too. This is why I hate it when people think they are OK not to use birth control. I mean, fine, if you don't mind getting pregnant! lol
