Another formula company sending 'samples' to me...enough already!

Since William's birth, I've received numerous packages containing free formula, backpacks, coupons and other 'gifts' from various formula companies.

Don't get me wrong, if I was FF I'm sure I would appreciate the free formula and would have a use for the coupons. As I'm strictly BF, I have no use for any of it.

Also find it frustrating as there are days when BF is exhausting and I am tempted to introduce a bottle...it's almost like the manufacturers of formula figure if they keep sending the product the mom will 'break down' and use it.

I'm going to donate the formula I have recv'd so far to a food bank. I know not everyone is successful at BF, but I do think that these companies go too far in their marketing efforts.

I happily got the formula samples and gave them away via freecycle to ladies in my area who needed them. Of course after giving them away, I ended up having to combo feed. I figure I gave them away to someone in greater need of the free samples than myself.

I donated all of my free samples to the food bank. While I agree that "breast is best" and that all mothers should BF, I'm realistic in knowing that not all mothers can, or will even try. I figure by donating to the food bank, it will go to those who are most in need of help FFing.

All those samples and coupons drive me bonkers, too. I also give them away. I even got a can in the hospital despite them knowing that I was BFing, tandem nursing, and that my son had NEVER been given formula. I gave it back to them and told them to give it to someone else.

As for the temptation to use it, that is one reason the companies send them. More than one mom has given in to that temptation and then ended up FF. Which means the formula company ended up getting loads of money off that one free sample.

I've gotten loads of samples and coupons too, lol. I just give them to friends who formula feed.

I get tons of free samples and even though I'm BFing, I find it amazing that they're able to give away formula for free. Give it to someone who needs it, at least you're able to help out someone else who may not be able to afford it or something.

I do plan on giving it away...and I'm not saying it's a bad thing if you're FF, but I'm not, and I didn't sign up for this. It's somewhat frustrating when I have to interrupt BF my son to go to the door to sign for the courier who is delivering formula I didn't ask for.

I get tons as well but it's definitely my own fault, I signed up for baby clubs and they automatically send them. I'd rather they send a pack of diapers lol

I am now getting toddler formula! Give it up already people! I gave mine to my mom who works at a public library, and she gave it to someone that needed it. So I feel like my good deed was done. But I do feel it's VERY unnecessary for them to mass mail it out in the first place.
