So I love my OH and he has been very supportive with breastfeeding but he seems very uncomfortable about feeding in public as he has asked me to bring a blanket incase I need to cover up. Well today we had lunch with some friends and he woke up so I gave DS to OH and said hlld him so I can get ready to nurse and he proceeded to gather our things tell our friends its time to leave. So im confused and say he needs to eat and says lets go oit first. We get outside and then he tells me I cant feed in a resturant because exposing genitils which is a health code violation. So we get in the car and race home while baby is screaming to eat, about 7 mins.
So needless to say im pissed. The only breastfeeding law in colorado states a woman has the right to breastfeed anyplace she has a right to be. Its not like I would be feedimg in the kitchen so I dont know if he's right, I think I have the right to feed him in the reasturant..am I wrong??
Yes, you definitely have the right to feed him in the restaurant. Breasts are meant for feeding babies, and they aren't genitals!!! My hubby was uncomfortable with it at first but he came around. Hopefully yours will too.
And I think he is embarassed, or being over protective? I'm not sure. He is so open minded about everything else but when it comes to breastfeeding in public it makes him so uncomfortable. Last time we all went out we were at Babies R Us and when DS woke ready to eat he asked if I should take him to the bathroom. I said no and to never suggest that again which he hasnt, but I really do hope it gets better!
Aww. It sounds like he just gets plain ol' flustered about you wanting to feed in public. You feed wherever YOU are comfortable hun. Let your DH just deal with it. There's no reason to leave your LO cry just because your DH isn't comfortable.
