OMG!! I was just in the shower massaging my boobie cause it was painful and felt like a clogged duct was happening. When i looked down my fingers were covered in what i can only describe as snot!!! It was all soapy so i couldn't get a proper look at the colour or smell it or anything, but it was basically snot and not a small amount! I do have a cold right now, but i am 99% sure i didn't sneeze onto my boob by mistake or something. What the hell is this??? I am going to google it of course, but i need reassurance!! Do i continue to feed DS? I carried on massaging until there was definitely only milk coming out and the pain is less but still there. I feel minging!!
Oh no, definitely not pregnant. There was too much to be colostrum. It was just like when one of the kids sneezes and a big stringy snot thing splats down their face!
Just checking! Eww. I have no suggestions. Did the pain go away atleast?
Found this about mastitis when I searched for mucous in the breast. http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mom/mastitis.html
It talks about what to do before nursing and how to manage it and symptoms. Hope you figure it out!
Hooray!!! NCT lady just phoned back and she was lovely and very reassuring. She asked if i'd noticed a white spot on my nipple, but i haven't. I don't really look. Anyway, she said that some women can pull these white spots with a tweezer and a spaghetti looking string of coagulated milk comes out. Niiiiice!
So yeah, no antibiotics required. Keep feeding DS as it will help to unplug it and i can take paracetamol or abuprofen if i need to.
