That is fascinating!

I'd kind of figured out by watching my milk as I pump it that there isn't a sudden switch from foremilk to hindmilk. At the start of a pumping session (especially if I'm engorged), the milk comes out really watery-looking and thin. When it collects in the bottle, it is very white. But even just watching it come out of my nipple, I can tell as the milk gets thicker and fattier by the way it sprays and the color.

Yeah I'd been told by my HV to keep him on one boob for at least 30 minutes but he doesn't want to comply - at least I know she was wrong.

I can't even feed my LO for half hour at a time... we do 15ish minutes per session. Much more than that and he spits up continually for the next hour. I feed him on one side for 2 or 3 feeds in a row though, so that he can get more and more of the thicker milk at each feed. Then we switch sides and do it again. Must be working fine as he's gaining weight, pees a lot and his poos are getting impressively large.
