Please can someone help? My LO is 4 weeks old and we have been doing really well with breastfeeding until the past few days. LO has medicine for thrush which seems to be clearing up but for the past 4 or 5 days I have been really sore ... Sometimes on both sides but more so on the left. My nipple is sore and whereas I usually only get a bit of pain when I am full of milk and she first latches, the pain is constant and is worse when she's feeding.
My whole breast feels like it's aching where the ducts are. I did think maybe mastitis but have read that there would normally be a red patch, although my left side is very warm.
I have left a message for my HV as am too late to call my surgery but I will call out of hours if I need to?
What are the implications to LO is I have either of the above and what do I do about feeding her? I only have enough expressed milk for 3 feeds so am trying to use them wisely as even pumping is hurting now.xx
chances are that if LO has thrush & is BFing it will get passed back & forth between you both & you both need to be treated for it.
who prescribed LOs meds, they should have prescribed you meds too. go to GP if u can hun xx
