newborn breastfeeding/pooping question

Hi everyone!

My little boy was born on Monday and we left the hospital Wednesday. Early Wednesday before we left, he had a dirty diaper (the meconium poop) and my milk didnt come in until yesterday (Thursday) late afternoon/evening. He didn't have any dirty diapers Thursday or today (Friday) Is this normal? Should I be worried? He has had wet diapers (I want to say maybe only 2 or 3 today though) I am nervous that he either isnt feeding right and getting any milk or that something else is wrong?

If he is weeing a lot and generally pretty settled, I wouldn't be overly worried. He is probably getting enough milk. Having said that, at that age they are 'supposed' to poo at least once a day.

Will your HV be visiting? Can you arrange a visit?

Some breastfed babies only poo once a week or less. There isnt much to waste. You should be getting at least 6 fairly wet nappies a day.

Good boy!!! It's always the way isn't it? Lol

Hope the lactation consultant can give you some reassurance

I hope so too, I feel very stressed out about everything wondering if he is getting what he needs. He pooped quite a bit today but his urine is more of a dark yellow

Is your baby jaundiced at all because this can turn their urine very yellow and as long as they are not having pale or white stools this is not a worry xx
