Need help? Lazy sucker?

And I thought I needed help yesterday! What do I do when she's being... for lack of a better word, lazy about nursing? I put her to the breast, she latches well, sucks twice, MAYBE three times, then lets go. Screams in frustration. We try again. Screams in frustration. We try for 5 min or so until I'm about to scream in frustration too. What do I do? I don't want to try an expressed bottle, because I'm afraid she'll get too used to how easy a bottle is, but most of the sites I've found online talking about this suggest using an expressed bottle. That seems really counterintuitive. But I can't make meal time a 30 min ordeal of both of us crying either! Help?

Has she had a bottle before? If not, I would see if she has gas and needs to burp. Also, you might just have a slow letdown. You could try warm compresses on your breasts while she's feeding to make your milk let down faster

She might be getting too much milk when she sucks, there is a way of squeezing your boob to slow it down do you could try that but I'm not too sure where you squeeze I'm afraid x x

I think it's the slow let down that's making her frustrated. I'll try a warm washrag next time? Is it possible this has anything to do with me having flat nipples? Should I be trying a nipple shield?

I don't think it does have anything to do with that. A lot of women feed just fine with flat nipples as the baby's mouth should be open wide with as much areola as possible.

Yeah, her latch is REALLY good. And she had had zero problems with nursing until last night. I was super impressed how good she'd been at it, TBH. Latched right on, sucking like a champ. Spent almost 7 hours with cluster feed nursing yesterday. (Yay?) Then last night, we woke her up because it'd been over 5 hours! I think it started cause she was super hungry and it was taking too long, but now she's doing it every time I try and feed her.

I'm not sure what to do. I may call my local WIC office when it's daytime here, and see if they have any suggestions, or a lactation consultant I can see.
