dairy free mums- weaning tips

Hi ladies...

After recommendation to start weaning Rowan, I finally took the plunge yesterday and offered him a little piece of banana to suck on- he LOVED it! Today he's had a few spoons of baby rice mixed with breastmilk...
However, I'm already feeling anxious about what I can offer him once I get beyond the fruit and veggie stage. Have any of you dairy-free mums got any weaning tips for me? (I am hoping to do a mix of blw and tw)

Hi, it's totally easy! I started weaning with pureed sweet potato and carrot, and within a couple of days started to give millet porridge (gluten &dairy free) made with water and added varied types of pureed fruits. The brand was Holle. I have since given her a 4grain porridge (millet, rice, quinoa, amaranth) also made with water and added fruit.
Lately I started her on rolled oats porridge (made as above) as it's important they take gluten before they're 7 months old. Dinners-wise she has:
Steamed salmon, potato, carrot, broccoli, beetroot
Fillet steak (easiest to purée), potato, carrot, pepper, cauliflower
Steamed chicken, potato, carrot, garlic, beetroot or broccoli
And I swap and change those ingredients around, she's also had onion, cabbage and tomatoes in her dinners.
I give her fruit purée after meals (apple, banana, pear, mango, blueberries, strawberries, plum) and re: finger foods, she's had:
Pizza crusts
Bread
Broccoli florets
Apple
Rice cakes (major choking tho!!)
Organix carrot snacks (like big wotsits)
I don't feel she's missing out on anything by not having dairy in her diet. Good luck with weaning! x
