Question about taking herbal supplements to increase breastmilk.

So after trying EVERYTHING in the book on increasing my breast milk production nothing seemed to help. So a friend of mine recommended taking herbal supplements that her friend whom is an herbalist and makes. So I ordered a two week supply from her, 2 capsules 2 x a day and after about 4 days of taking the pills my breast milk increased 300%! I stored away a ton of milk because I was making so much. So I ordered another months supply of pills but it took her two weeks to send me another batch of pills and by the time I recieved them I had run out and was off the pills for a week. During that week my supply dropped and was worse than what it was before the pills. When I finally received the pills my supply only slightly increased and was barely noticeable. Since then it hasn't improved and was never like it was the first time I took the pills. I talked to the herbalist and she could only say that maybe my body got accustomed to the herbs and it had no effect anymore. So my question is... Can my body get accustomed to the pills after only taking them for 2 weeks? I mean that isn't very long and I was off them for a week. It doesn't make sense to me. So I've been taking the pills for over a month now and still no change. Should I stop taking them and wait a few weeks then start the pills back up again to see if it would have an effect? I'm sorry this post is so long, I wanted to make sure my story was clear and no confusion. If anyone has any suggestions I'm open! Thanks!

I have no idea, since im not sure about what you are taking so don't have any info on it. Have you tried the herbal fenugreek?

What supplements did you take?
Is your LO not getting enough that you need to increase your breastmilk?

I barely make enough milk to feed my son, I've had to give him formula when I didn't have enough milk while I'm away at work. The herbal blend is made of Goat's rue, fenugreek, alfalfa, Blessed thistle, Fennel and marshmallow root. I've tried motherlove herbal blend but it didn't help any. I don't understand why my body would respond differently when taking the herbs a second time.

Im not sure what advice I can give since I have no experience with it.
But maybe you can try fenugreek alone. The pill form thats 610mg a pill and take 3-4 of them at a time 3 times a day. It does really well.

I had some success with fenugreek (ran it by my doctor before I began taking it). Hope you find something that helps. Pretty sure there are some other past threads in this section on increasing milk production, so you may find some tips there.
