i can see how it could be possible if the breastmilk was giving the baby tummy upsets or the taste was off

Breastmilk is very mild on the tummy. If you're talking about gas, then that's a different story. Also, reflux in BF'd babies is pretty rare. The baby can't tell the mom they don't like it. They rely on us as mothers to figure it out.

I think many babies seem like they don't like bf'ing early on. But it is just gas. They want to nurse but have so much gas they will scream at the breast. Or they probably gave the baby a bottle too early which led to confusion and preference for the faster immediate flow of the bottle.

I had reflux as a baby and infant and was cpmpletely BF. I remember Mum saying the GP told her that I was "allergic" to her milk and obviously couldn't stand it. My Mum being a very experianced parent left the office thinking that was a load of rubbosh and fed me until a year when I was weaned.

Yeah, I said it's rare, but it's not impossible I've heard of a few reflux BF'd babies.

I just think it's ridicilous that the GP told her I was allergic and recommended soy formula, just goes to show how little they knew!

Urgh! I hate it when I hear people saying this. How could a baby not like what nature intended for it?

I also hate it when mums say 'Breastfeeding isn't for me' 'I'd feel weird breastfeeding a boy'
