Advice pls - weight gain for lazy feeder

my lo has been v slow to gain weight. last thursday m/w recommended that i express 30 mins after a feed and cup feed lo this to top him up with the idea that it ll boost my supply and give lo some calories without having to work for them.
so between thursday to this am, lo has gained 120g. Does this sound ok?

I don't know about the weight gain but have u tried switching him from breast to breast during the feed. I know generally we all worry about foremilk & hind milk (which an imbalance is rare unless with oversupply) I would try switching him each time he starts to slow down. Often times that slowing or "laziness" is due to the slower milk flow. switch to the other side & he will perk back up. If u do that a few times then let him finish on one side he should get more than enough milk & fats. I think cup feeding might confuse him & won't help him want to nurse! do u let him comfort suck? They do get fats from that too.

all this said his weight might be ok & your midwife might be overly concerned! 120 grams in less than 5 days is over 4 oz which is "the minimum" I was told he should gain in a week as a newb. so actually that sounds great!
